Launching ceremony Global week on action for education (updated: 04/08/2009)
In 3 April 2009 afternoon, at Binh Lu, Primary school Tam Duong district Lai Chau happened the launching ceremony for global Week on action for education organized ActionAidVietnam. Participants include Mr Đỗ Hữ Trưởng, deputy general secretary of Tam Duong Communist Party. Mr Trần Văn Quế, Vice president of tam Duong district People committee and hundreds of students and teacher of Binh Lu commune primary school and representatives of illiteracy elimination and Reflect classes at surrounding communes.

The major objective of this event is to respond to Global Week on action for education in 2009 about to take places in last week of April 2009. This year optic is elimination of adolescent and adult illiteracy and whole life learning opportunity. Two main opportunities of the Week is the competition: Read for a better life (Launched by ministry education and since March 2009. and the Reading Day. At the ceremony, under acute sunny days, hundreds of participants enthusiastically joined the reading section of “Big stories “comprising hundreds of stories selected and narrated by the students and teachers. Those are the stories my grand father of Lan Anh grade 5 A1; Tan A chang story class 5A4 named My mother. All of the stories are telling about the vicious life of the illiterate poor. Just after learning to read, write calculation significant changes in their life have been seen. – not being lost when going to market, well informed of seasonal crops during the cultivation. The story by Mr Saroj Dash, ActionAid representatives telling about a brave young boy in his home country India were exotically celebrated by the children.

 

Giving the Statement in the ceremony, Mr Tran Van Que, vice president of Tam Duong community office said: As we all know, earning good education and the capability to read, write is very important. When having good education, we can possibly change our life, even change the world. That’s why the global week on education with important events has a huge significance towards promotion and support the poor in owning and benefiting education opportunities from the community

 

The reading day organized by ActionAid Vietnam in Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province is one of the beginning events to respond to the reading day at national level taking place in Tu Son Bac Ninh on April 23 2009.
